Timothy Walter Burton, best know as Tim Burton, is an American film director, producer, writer and artist. He was born on August 25th in 1958. Burton is well-known for his horror-fantasy films being dark, quirky, macabre and gothic, he is also famous for his stop-motion pictures as well; such as his infamous The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Corpse Bride.

During his childhood, Burton would make crude stop-motion short films while he was still at Burbank High School, one of his most early films was The Island of Doctor Agor, which he did when he was 13 years old. His childhood heroes at the time and one of his influences for his films were Dr.Seuss and Roald Dahl.  After high school, Burton studied Character animation at the California Institute of Arts, created and founded by Walt Disney, with classmates Henry Selick, Brad Bird and many other renowned figures in film animation.

Most of his films are known to have two recurring actors, his partner (and mother of his two children, his son Billy Raymond and daughter Nell) Helen Bonham Carter, and family friend ( and his children’s god-father) Johnny Depp, along with composer Danny Elfman.

He wrote and illustrated the poetry book called The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy & Other Stories in 1997, and a book of his drawings, sketches and other artwork  named The Art of Tim Burton in 2009.

I am a fan of Tim Burton’s work, I love the surrealism placed in a dark, gothic and quirky atmosphere, with a dash of creepiness on the side, making a recipe for an artistic motion picture feature . He is one of my inspirations for drawing in exaggerated character, like expanding pieces of their bodies (mainly the head if I might add). I can truly see how the work of Dr. Seuss influenced his work perfectly, if I had to choose out two who I prefer it would be Tim Burton all the way.
